Closed Eyes

March 20, 2017

He’s a charming man, everyone who met him would agree.

He’s lonely most of the time, but charismatic when he needs to be.

Sometimes, I’d see him staring blankly off in the distance, then his eyelids would slowly shut over his cloudy, beaded eyes and you knew that meant he turned off his one sense to heighten the others. His lips would fold closed with his fingers intertlocked, lying in his lap. He’d dip his chin into his chest, just listening, not making a sound, seeing nothing.

Every now and again, he’d become human then stare blankly at you, trying to meet your eyes but only coming as close as finding your forehead, wearing a smile only when he heard Charlie Brown come into the room to crack a joke with him.
